German doctors undertake treatment of all stages and types of cancer. In their arsenal: extensive knowledge in this area, the latest equipment, the ability to combine techniques.
Oncology in Germany is reflected in the fact that oncologists interact with doctors all over the world. Thanks to this, they can participate in various innovative therapeutic solutions.
Nowadays, innovative methods of fighting cancer are being practiced in Germany:
1. Immunotherapy — drug therapy — enhances or activates the immune response
Includes all treatments that use the immune system to fight disease.
2. Checkpoint inhibitors are drugs that prevent cancer cells from slowing down the immune response.
Checkpoint inhibitors prevent cancer cells from docking with immune cell checkpoints by blocking the connection between the cancer cell and the checkpoint. Immune cells become active again and can recognize and fight cancer cells.
3. Therapeutic vaccinations are used not as a preventative measure, but as a treatment for cancer that has already developed.
Therapeutic vaccination “trains” the immune system to more effectively recognize and attack cancer cells.
There are vaccines made from the patient’s own cells — cancer cells or immune cells, or from cancer-specific components ~ tumor antigens.
Most therapeutic vaccines are currently only available in clinical trials.
4. CAR T-cell therapy
T cells are taken from an affected person and genetically modified in a laboratory. The CAR-T cells then multiply.
After preparatory chemotherapy, CAR-T cells are infused into the blood of the affected person.
5. Targeted therapy refers to new drugs that specifically affect the processes occurring in cancer cells
6. Proton therapy is a modern and precise form of radiation therapy for the treatment of cancer.
It is considered particularly gentle and effective due to its physical properties. Proton therapy can be useful especially for childhood tumors due to less stress on immature, sensitive tissue.
7. Chemoembolization
Thanks to this method, a high concentration of chemotherapy drug is created in the tumor without loading healthy tissue.
The method is used for carcinoma of the liver parenchyma.
8. Selective internal radiotherapy (SIRT)
This method delivers a very high dose of radiation to the liver. It occurs without involving other organs and healthy parts of the liver in the area of radiation exposure.
The method is applied to severe stages of liver cancer and liver metastases.
9. Vertebroplasty — targeted application of bone cement.
It is necessary to relieve pain and stabilize the vertebrae. This procedure is possible on different bones. The method is also used when bones and vertebrae have become fragile due to osteoporosis.
It is important to understand : Oncology in Germany is the right choice, because oncology centers in Germany are competent in complex issues and situations and take on the most difficult cases.
